Jinpa is concerned with 7 schools in remote areas of the high plateau. One school was built by Jinpa where no school exists. One was started in a room in a mud house by a 23 year old young man. The others were built by the Government but consist of only 2 mud-walled rooms. There is no furniture. There is no lighting or heating. The young pupils sit on the floor to learn by day and sleep huddled together on the same floor at night. It is the aim of Jinpa to provide school materials and furnishings for the existing classrooms, then build dormitories, kitchen/dining rooms and toilet blocks. Another must is building a well for clean water. |
