Earthquake Update

A major earthquake struck Yushu Town on the morning of 14. April 2010, devastating the entirety of Yushu Town, destroying homes and infrastructure.

Fortunately none of Jinpa’s staff were seriously injured in the disaster, but all have lost close family members and friends. Many people involved in Jinpa’s projects have been killed too, including a number of the staff at the Yushu Medical School with which we have long worked so closely.
Jinpa UK’s thoughts are with all the people of Yushu.

The Jinpa Trust has launched an urgent appeal for assistance to help the many homeless people who tonight are reduced to sleeping fearfully on the streets without blankets or shelter from sub-zero temperatures. We envisage buying heavy canvas tents to distribute to the most needy people. These tents cost approximately £200 / $300 each to buy and distribute, but will save people from living in the most miserable conditions.

If you would like to help our Earthquake appeal, please click on the Donate button on the left hand side of the page.

Thank you for your help - it will make a real difference.
